Thinking about buying a commercial property but not sure where to start? Whether you’re dreaming of owning your own office, creating a space for your growing business, or just tired of paying rent, this in-person workshop will walk you through what it really takes to go from renter to owner.

Led by someone who has done it herself, this session will break down the full process in a way that’s approachable, actionable, and specific to the needs of small businesses in Rochester.

What you’ll learn:

• How to plan for ownership, including budgeting, timelines, and what to prepare

• The basics of commercial properties and zoning rules in Rochester

• What to look for in a space and how to avoid common mistakes

• Local and national funding options, including loans and grants

• What to expect during inspections, appraisals, and the closing process

• Lessons learned from someone who’s been through it

Who it’s for:

This workshop is tailored for therapists in private practice, but the content will apply to any small business owner considering a commercial property purchase. If you’re not sure if it’s a fit, feel free to reach out and ask.

About the presenter:

Shannon Halligan is the founder of Halligan Creative Arts Therapy, a mental health private practice in NOTA. After renting for 14 years, she purchased her own commercial building in 2024. In this workshop, she’ll share the knowledge, tools, and lessons she learned along the way.
