Are you seeking a more creative approach to therapy? Have you tried counseling in the past and felt that talking and analyzing your problems and challenges may not have been as helpful as you would have liked? Have you ever thought that you’d like to learn more creative ways to express and understand yourself, but you don’t know where to start?

At Halligan Creative Arts Therapy, we specialize in working with clients who want to gain a deeper understanding of themselves, find creative problem solving techniques, and use art as an outlet and coping tool. Art-making allows us to tap into our unconscious, develop a deeper understanding of ourselves, and creative ways to cope with any challenges life presents.

Art Therapy is a blend of psychotherapy and art making, which allows you to discuss the concerns and challenges you face as well as learn ways to creatively work through them to improve your life.

Halligan Creative Arts Therapy is a unique hybrid of a therapy office and an art studio. Clients are given the opportunity to explore many unique art activities and experience art as valuable therapeutic tool. You can be a total beginner or an experienced artist; either way, Art Therapy can help you express what makes you unique.

“For people who are hands-on, visual learners, art can be utilized as a tool in expression, though they may not realize that it can help them through struggles.” – Bethany Comella, “Helping Others Through Art,” Rochester Woman Magazine

Art therapy is a New York State licensed mental health profession that uses the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of individuals of all ages.

Testimonials

“Shannon has been working with my daughter for nearly two years. In that time, I have seen my daughter respond in ways that she was incapable of before beginning this work. … I look forward to watching my daughter grow, mature, and become more confident. I couldn’t do this without Shannon’s help.” – Darci
