Shannon Halligan, L-CAT is a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist specializing in helping clients cope with issues such as Autism, Asperger’s syndrome, anxiety disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD/ADD), Alzheimer’s and Dementia, developmental disorders, LGBTQ issues, and traumatic brain injuries.

This class will focus on the fundamental techniques of watercolor and looking at the relationship between water and color and how it works together to make beautiful watercolor paintings. You will learn a variety of watercolor techniques including washes, dry and wet brushing; as well as techniques using simple household items like salt and plastic wrap. All materials need to create a masterpiece of your own will be provided for you. About the Teacher: Trisha Hoffman is a life long artist who started creating art pieces since she could hold a crayon. She loves to share her experiences with others because she feels that creating art, whether its a masterpiece or doodling produces healing and enrichment. Trish has a degree in Art, Art Therapy, is a Certified Life Coach in Health and Wellness, and is currently working on her Master's in Mental Health Counseling.

Monthly Kids Craft Events!

Time: 10:30am - 12:00am

This series of Art Classes for Kids are designed for children to experience fun, educational, hands-on art activities that enhance their creativity, build their artistic skill, and offer a fun, interactive social environment. Children (ages 4 and up) will be making art projects based on the following themes: April 8th: Animals: Children will be creating unique animal puppets from felt. May 13th: Recycle Art: Kids will create sculptures using found objects and recyclables. June 3rd: Nature Art: Kids will be making crafts using sticks, leaves, shells, pinecones and various items from nature. *Stay Tuned for Summer Camp Art Events for July and August 2017! *Please register for EACH session you plan to attend. Class runs for 60 minutes.

Mosaic Photo Frames/Flower Pots

Tuesday, Apr 25, 2017 -

Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Join us to learn the basic of mosaics as you create a mosaic frame or flower pot of your own design while learning to use mosaic materials and tools.  We’ll go over basic safety guidelines for working with mosaic materials and things to think about before creating your mosaic piece.  You’ll learn how to nip and cut different types of tiles and ceramics and how to surface bond them with mortar, which also will serve as grout. All materials and tools will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring any broken china and/or small pieces of china, jewelry, or other types of found objects they might want to incorporate in their projects to personalize it. IMAG2352_1_1 (1)      Laura Robinson is a self-taught mosaic artist with 15 years of experience identifying and working with various types of mosaic tesserae to create different types of mosaic projects for the home, garden, and just for fun.  Most recently she’s taught classes at Rochester Makerspace for both adults and youth.  You can see some of her more recent work on her blog, www.manic-mosaics.com
